About
I'm Marla Swoffer, a Marin County, California native and a Jewish Christian. I have a masters in journalism from UC Berkeley and I am an INFJ who is a certified Myers-Briggs Personality Type Practitioner. I'm also the founder of Marin Foodies - I coordinate the group, as well as write about cooking and restaurants.
My ENFP half Filipino husband is "Eddie the Haircut Guy" - he runs our salon, the Children's Hair Club, and kayak fishes "his face off," as he would say. I have been homeschooling our two daughters and one son since 2009 when our oldest child asked me to midway through first grade in public school. She's a trailblazer in the Class of 2020 - conceived during 9/11 and graduating in a pandemic.
Back in my blogging heyday just after the turn of the millennium, I was one of the founding members of what was then dubbed the Godblogosphere, including an evangelical women's blog called "Intellectuelle." Then along came my third child, and shortly thereafter the unexpected path of homeschooling. There went my plan to write while the kids were away at school all day. But the life I got instead has turned out to be far more fulfilling, and is making me a better writer. With our kids in the teen years, my primary calling is not any easier or less time consuming (in fact, it's more challenging in certain ways), but I have an inkling that the path is broadening...
I post to my Facebook profile and pages (especially the last two) more often than my blog:
Marla Swoffer (cultural/reflective)
INFJ Christians (5000 special snowflakes)
Savoring Flavors (cooking/recipes)
Marin Foodies (Marin & Sonoma County restaurants)
